CV anxieties - 3 more Top Tips for Ex-FRS [part 2 of 2]
Everyone needs a CV as you never know what twists and turns your life and career is going to take. So, following on from my last post, here are 3 more top tips to consider when preparing your CV:
1. Don’t miss out because you haven’t got time to write your CV – opportunities rarely land at the perfect time, sods law - it will land when you’re spinning many plates. So give yourself a an head start, plan some time in, get hold of a CV/Resume template and complete all the basic fields – personal details, work history, qualifications, key skills etc. With the bulk of the work done you can quickly refine later & no more missed opportunities.
2. Your CV is your ‘shop window; so dress it well – convince anyone who doesn’t know you that it’s worth them giving up their time to meet you.
3. Major on your specific experiences, successes and qualifications; make it punchy and use bullet points. Avoid large paragraphs of dense text.
At Emex our client demand for ex-FRS experience from firefighter to Chief and beyond is growing all the time. We have many opportunities now for certain skill sets with more emerging in the new year, so if you’re considering your options then do start on your CV but don’t let this delay you getting in touch.
We can also help – we have just developed a template that captures all of the information we need to align your skillset to the opportunities – and we’re working to put this out as an online tool.
If you’d like to know more or would like some help to get started then do get touch, either message me via Linkedin or email me – guy@emex.org.uk
